It is another Indian time warp. This hotel is situated in South India. It is a wonderful hotel in every way. The décor is lovely and the staff is very welcoming and warm. Some find it as the best hotel in Pondicherry. De Lorient Hotel is supposed to be a French township in Pondicherry. The hotel is an 18th century villa which has been modernized in every way. The view of the courtyard as you enter the hotel is very pretty. You feel as if it is a home in a museum. The minutest of details are taken care of in terms of the interior of the hotel. The food is continental and traditional choices can be made available to you on request. It is a beautifully done up property and once in your life time you’ve got to stay here. When it was purchased this bungalow of the 18th century was totally run down and was in a very bad shape. This restored mansion evokes the atmosphere of the colonial era. The hotel now is quaint and charming and has an appeal to it. The beach is at a walking distance and so are other eating places. The ratings of the travelers are quite satisfactory and good.
